PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A 40-year-old man with a rifle, a pistol, extra magazines, a police scanner and a bulletproof vest fatally shot four men in a Philadelphia neighborhood and chased and killed a fifth man inside a house, police said. A 2-year-old boy and a 13-year-old were also wounded in the Monday night violence that made the working-class area of Kingsessing the site of the nation's worst violence around the July 4 holiday. The gunman fired at police as they chased him for blocks, police said. When they caught up, he surrendered in an alley, Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said at a news conference. Sharks update: Blackwood’s important change in regimen, and can Zetterlund bounce back?

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 11:55:42 GMT

San Jose Sharks goalie Mackenzie Blackwood is hoping a small addition to his offseason training regimen can make a positive impact on his health after he went through another injury-plagued year with the New Jersey Devils this past season.Blackwood, acquired by the Sharks from the Devils last week, began to practice yoga and is also trying out Pilates to help avoid some of the soft tissue injuries that have caused him to miss a significant amount of time since the start of the 2021-2022 season. Blackwood experienced an MCL sprain near the start of last year and later suffered a groin injury – maladies that allowed him to play only 22 games last season after he played in just 25 the year before.“I’ve been doing it for months now into this offseason and I feel good. I feel great,” said Blackwood, who had a 19-16-6 record and a .893 save percentage over the last two years. “I think it’s going to go a long way (in the) long term for me, so I’m just excited. One month into his recovery from a torn ligament in his right toe, Aaron Judge has started hitting off a tee but said Tuesday he is still unable to run.“I got to be able to run,” Judge said before the Yankees continued a four-game series with the Orioles. “If I can run then I can play. Me running at 10 percent ain’t going to help anybody out there.”Judge said being able to put weight on his backfoot is the biggest factor in how fast he can return from an injury that is unusual for a baseball player.“Besides running it’s me being able to put 270 pounds on one leg when I’m hitting,” Judge said. “Once we build up that strength and get the pain and all that all out of there, we’re going to be in a good spot. I understand you’re going to deal with some pain coming back so it’s just about getting to a point where it’s tolerable and we’re not setting ourselves back here.”Monday marked one month since Judge got hurt when he crashed into the right-field wall at Dodger Stadium while making a ...
